As President of the RGP I spend much of my time dealing with
transportation and land use issues. I am a member of the Steering Committee of the Regional
Institute for the 21st century and an organizer of 1000 Friends of
Connecticut. We manage the Clean
Sites Coalition advocating for regulatory and statutory framework conducive to
brownfields redevelopment. My
biography is attached.

Biography
Robert W. Santy
Robert
W. Santy is President of the Regional Growth Partnership.
The Partnership is the not-for-profit collaborative economic development
corporation serving the fifteen communities that make up South Central
Connecticut. Our primary mission is
to encourage
cohesiveness between the public and private sectors in the development of
policies and programs designed to make the South Central Region more competitive
in the global economy.
Prior
to joining the RGP Mr. Santy was Vice President of the Connecticut Capitol
Region Growth Council and project director for the MetroHartford Millennium
project. The Millennium project is
the first comprehensive economic development strategy for the 29 towns of the
capital region. Mr. Santy also
managed the Growth Council’s municipal services division, providing strategic
planning services to municipalities and other organizations throughout the
region.
From 1992
through 1995 Mr. Santy served as Deputy Commissioner of the Connecticut
Department of Economic Development. At
DED he played a critical role in the development of new programs to provide
incentives to retain and attract companies to the state.
He managed numerous multi-faceted projects including implementation of a
multi-million dollar award winning economic development marketing program for
the state, development of a strategic plan for UCONN’s Center for Marine
Science and Technology, major improvements to the Connecticut Building at the
“Big E” and creation of the Connecticut Award for Excellence.
Prior to
joining DED, Mr. Santy was Director of Government Relations and Small Business
Affairs for the international accounting and consulting firm Deloitte &
Touche in Washington, DC. He
developed a government relations practice serving Deloitte & Touche clients
and represented the firm’s interests on Capitol Hill.
From 1981 to
1984 Mr. Santy worked at the US Small Business Administration as Chief-of-Staff
and Assistant Administrator for Congressional and Legislative Affairs.
Mr. Santy was a Professional Staff Member of the US Senate Small Business
Committee form 1978 to 1981 and was also on the Senate staff of Lowell P.
Weicker, Jr.
Current
professional and voluntary activities include: Chair, Regional Data Cooperative;
Chair, Policy Committee, Regional Growth Connection; Steering Committee,
Connecticut Regional Institute for the 21st Century; member, I-91 Corridor
Transportation Investment Area; member, Connecticut Committee of the Regional
Planning Association; member, CenterEdge Coalition; Board Member, Congressional
Youth Leadership Council; member, Connecticut Economic Conference Board; and
Trustee, Eastern States Exposition. He
has a BA in American Civilization and an MBA in Business, Economics and Public
Policy, from The George Washington
University.
Mr. Santy
lives in Unionville, CT with his wife Sandy and their two children.
