Activity
1-Looking through the binoculars
Goal
To
review the Centeredge maps and better understand the implications of the
information in them
Task
Your
small group is on a "flight" across Connecticut and as you look down
these maps are what you see. Drawing on your experience and using the maps,
answer the following questions. Identify one person in your small group to
record your answers to report back to the entire group
What
do you see?
Is
this a problem? Why?
How
does it make you feel?
Does
it surprise you? If yes, why?
What
2-3 towns/neighborhoods surprise you the most? Why?
Activity
2-Analyzing the landscape
Goal
To
analyze the root sources of the problems identified in the Centeredge maps
Task
Your
small group has returned from your flight and you have been asked to give an
initial report to the "airport control tower coordinator". Again using
the maps and your experience answer the following questions. Identify a
different person from Activity 1 to record your answers to report back to the
entire group
Why
does the map look as it does?
Do
you need other info to analyze these maps?
If yes, what info?
Activity
3-Repairing the broken parts
Goal
To
identify possible solutions and future strategies to the problems that the maps
illustrate
Task
Your
small group has been asked to provide a recommendations report to the state
"Map Services Bureau". Again using the maps and your experience answer
the following questions. Identify a different person from Activity 1 and 2 to
record your answers to report back to the entire group
What
policies could reduce the problems that these map illustrate?
What
obstacles do we face in implementing these policies?
What
strategies can help overcome the obstacles?
