Sample Letter of Invitation

to CenterEdge Public Education Event

Dear ______,

I am writing to invite and urge you to attend a public forum in our [city or town] which will educate citizens of [city/town name] about  the report Connecticut Metropatterns: A regional agenda for community and prosperity in Connecticut.  The report addresses  the effects of development on economic development, education, the environment, transportation, and health among other things.  The Office of Urban Affairs of the Archdiocese of Hartford commissioned the report by Tom Luce and  Myron Orfield of Ameregis.  It is cited in the draft plan of conservation and development of Connecticut as one of several valuable recent reports looking at long-term trends that are important for all of us to consider in planning our future.

The CenterEdge Coalition (list enclosed) was created to do public education about the report and related matters.  The Coalition intends to hold a public education event in each of the 169 cities and towns in our state.  Local citizens are planning the event to be held in their own community.  The members of our planning committee are listed below.  Our forum will be held on:  [date/time/place].  The report will be presented by [name of speaker].  [Name of local skilled facilitator] will preside.  Our goal is to invite key leaders and members of our community.  We very much hope you can participate because your knowledge and perspective are necessary in order to make this the best it can be.  Please call [name and phone number of a committee member] for more information.

Thank you for your kind attention.
